About the Author

In addition to authoring both Preparing to Build and Abundant Giving, I’ve been a church building consultant and church capital campaign consultant since the late 90′s. I have written numerous articles, and am a past contributing editor to Church & Worship Technology Magazine and other magazines. I am a seminar speaker and volunteer church building consultant for the NC Baptist Convention and blog, time permitting, on my Church Design and Construction Blog.

I have been involved with church building projects all over the USA for churches as small as under 75 people and as expensive as $10,000,000. Today, I am a partner in the firm Church Development Services where I head up our consulting division.

In the mid-90’s I was “volunteered” to serve as the building committee chair person of our church. Knowing I did not really know much about how to build a church, I began an odyssey of learning that continues even to this day. One of the things that I quickly discovered was that there were few available resources and little help to be had, especially if you were not part of a main-line denomination. My mission became one of ministry to the church in this important area – to encourage and equip the church to help it win souls for the Kingdom of God.

In 2006 I founded my own firm, AMI Church Consulting Services.  In November of 2010 I merged those services with Church Development LLC in order to be able to provide a complete solution from pre-design planning through design and construction. I also serve as a volunteer consultant for the Church Planning and Building team as part of their congregational services offering.

I currently reside in Clayton NC with wife Candace and the remainder of 7 boys who have not yet left home, where we attend and serve at Community Baptist Church in Garner.
